Telnyashka (Russian: тельня) is long sleeve undershirt. Horizontally striped with white and blue lines. It comes in various other colors which are dedicated accordingly to military department. Available in form of a vest or a t-shirt. This one is an iconic uniform garment worn by the Russian Navy, the Russian Airborne Troops (VDV) and the Russian marines. Dating back to the 19th century Imperial Navy, it was subsequently worn by the Soviet successors of these troops.
Telnyashkas with stripes of certain colors traditionally designated to particular troops, for example light blue stripes are worn by VDV paratroopers and GRU Spetsnaz (posing as VDV).
